A very underrated restaurant in Banff. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional and they provided the food within 10-15 mins of ordering. If we compare it to Zyka, the food was just as good, but with larger portions and in way less time (zyka took 30 mins whereas they took 10-15 for the same amount of food). A huge shoutout to Aman, our server who was very polite and quick to answer our requests.

We chose this Indian restaurant in Banff (although it is more out of the way than other Indian restaurants) because it was a recommendation from our waiter at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (and as he is a local we wanted to know where he ate.) We were not disappointed- we had two starters between us (the beef samosas and the chicken 65) and they were delicious. The waiter at Masala tried to warn us that the portion sizes were huge but we hadn’t eaten for 12 hours so ordered a starter each, a curry dish each, one rice and one naan and my goodness the food was amazing! We didn’t need it all and could have stopped after the starters but it was so delicious we couldn’t. I would go so far as to say it is the nicest Indian food I have ever had. We would definitely eat here often if we lived in Banff and will return here if we come back. To the management of Masala, thank you for an amazing meal and very friendly and helpful staff! We want you to be successful long term so thinking about why we probably wouldn’t have eaten at this restaurant if it had not been a recommendation, the main reason is the outside tables - you have three, make sure they are clean and ready to go all the time - we walked past several times and they were messy and did not look inviting. We were coming to you anyway because of the recommendation but if we had not had that, the leftover food and mess on these tables would have put us off. We hope this helps :)

I loved the food. Starting off Chicken 56 for appetizer was chicken with delicious curry tomato like sauce. Then the daal lamb curry with rice and garlic naan was amazing. The restaurant felt like a nice normal restaurant and had Indian decor. The food came surprisingly fast. I did notice that one of the waiters had a thumb that was oily and had dried sauce on it. Other than that, this restaurant is very good and worth eating at.

This is a really nice restaurant. I would definitely recommend it. The food is halal and it's really good. We ordered the chili chicken and daal makhni, along with garlic naan and white rice. The service was great and food came on time - thankfully, because we were starving! We are here for a few more days so I think we will definitely come back and try their other dishes!

They were able to fit our huge family of 24. They receive kudos just for that. The food was quick once we ordered. They helped the kids order by themselves. Took Carter to come ask for second helpings if any. Made sure we had enough boxes and got the table cleaned up as needed. The food itself was tasty but I’d have liked to stick to the North Indian food, the Indian Chinese menu was not up to the mark.

22nd June, After a tiring day we batch of 5 people decided to try some good india food in Banff. As per many people's suggestion we thought of trying this restaurant. First thing, the lady who took our order is bit arrangant and we are starving so we just bypassed that and waited for food. Surprisingly all the starters we ordered were so good Amritsar Fish fry, chicken 65 and Chilli paneer. Later we ordered some naans and rotis with chicken curry, Paneer curry which were good too. But, from then the experience turned out in different directions we ordered biriyani that turned out to be a disaster, may be it is tawa style biriyani but we didn't like it. Finally that lady provided us the bill that took us for shock after seeing 30CAD gratuity, I asked her about the gratuity rules and as usual she replied so rudely that they charge this gratuity for batch of 5 people. But later when I requested to the manager by showing alberta policies, he obliged and removed that 30 CAD. But one things might affect the overall experience, I hope they rectify this service issues.
